With the increasing usage of smartphones and tablets, ColumbiaSoft now offers new technology that allows organizations companies to host a mobile-ready interface for document management systems so files and information are accessible on the go. This new technology is included in the latest version, 6.3, of ColumbiaSoft’s Document Locator (DL).
The product extends a number of key components of document management that are already available through desktop integration and in Web browsers to a brand new method of access specifically designed for mobile.
“Smart phones and tablets are more than just a convenience for employees who work on the road; for clients who want self-service access to files; even for people in the office who are away from their computer,” said ColumbiaSoft engineering manager, Tim Emerson. “In our third major release of the year, companies now have a secure way to allow whomever they choose to use their mobile devices to retrieve files, participate in workflows, and more.”
DL Mobile is engineered in the new HTML5 markup language and offers broad compatibility with mobile operating systems, such as Android, IOS on iPhones and iPads, Windows Phone, Microsoft Surface, as well as the latest generations of BlackBerry. The product has a simple touch-optimized design that lets users send and receive notifications, search content, open and view files, or participate in workflows.
The new mobile technology also allows businesses to host their own mobile interface. This enables companies to keep information in secure, on-site repositories.
