ABBYY has announced Lingvo x3 Mobile, a new multilingual dictionary for smartphones, PDAs and communicators. ABBYY Lingvo x3 Mobile translates words and phrases from and to English, German, Russian, French, Italian, and Spanish.

Additional features include audio pronunciations by native speakers and the tool for vocabulary training Lingvo Tutor which allows users to improve their language skills.

"This dictionary is a result of ABBYY’s vast experience in both linguistic research and software development. It provides a carefully selected set of dictionaries embodied in a compact, easy-to-use and accessible application,” said Katya Solntseva, director of Mobile Products Department at ABBYY. “Lingvo Mobile will always be within reach wherever you are – in a meeting, during language classes or when traveling abroad.”

ABBYY Lingvo x3 Mobile contains dictionaries such as New Oxford American Dictionary, Oxford-Duden, Oxford-Hachette, Oxford-Paravia, as well as ABBYY’s own Russian-English dictionaries. The application contains about 3.5 million words and phrases with examples, grammatical information, and phonetic spellings.

The Lingvo Tutor is a flash-card tool for vocabulary training for Windows Mobile devices. It helps users to memorize new words with the help of enjoyable exercises.  Users can also create their own lists of words which they would like to memorize.

The application interface provides fast word look-up. ABBYY Lingvo x3 Mobile supports eight interface languages including English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian.
