What kind of fonts do most OCR programs use as the basis for what a certain character looks like?

I imagine most of them would be based on a widely used, non stylised font like arial or Times New Roman, but are there any OCRs out there that can be set to read fonts like Blackadder or even WingDings?

That makes sense. I think most OCR software are designed to recognize the simplest and the most popular fonts like Arial and Times New Roman, and maybe sans serif.

Times New Roman or Arial. !2 or 14 pt is best.

Many are, and if its anything like my own personal tastes - the simple is always the best bet. The last thing you want is something that is going to do everything you need, but do it in a way that is going to be hard to read, esp. if its not just for you (think work place needs).

Yeah, I can see that. I would rather everything be in the basic fonts but I just know these musical scores are going to be hard as heck to find anything that will recognize them if anything on the market does it at all.
