Nuance has entered into collaboration with Intel to bring voice recognition to Ultrabooks in 2012 and develop an application for intuitive and natural control of Ultrabook.
Nuance’s speech recognition technology that is at the core of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, will be integrated into the new Intel application. With these voice capabilities, users will have the ability to control the Ultrabook by using their voice. People will be able to launch applications, play media, control email and calendars, and interact with social media sites with voice commands. “This is truly an exciting partnership, where we’ll combine the power of Nuance voice and natural language technologies with Intel powered Ultrabooks, allowing people to interact with their Ultrabook with natural voice commands. Nuance and Intel share a vision for compelling interactions between man and machine, and the two companies will collaborate to optimize for Intel Core processors and Ultrabook designs, resulting in a better end user experience and interactions which will be faster than ever before,” said Peter Mahoney, Chief Marketing Officer, Nuance Communications.
Intel and Nuance will also offer an SDK offering the Dragon voice recognition as well as other technologies from Nuance, to enable developers to create apps through the Intel AppUp Center store front. The software development kit will initially support US and UK English, German. French, Italian, European Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese, as well as all standard European languages.
