Nuance is providing access to the Dragon Mobile software development kit (SDK) for iOS and Android via a self-service website. Mobile developers can now leverage dictation and voice search capabilities, as well as Nuance’s text-to-speech (TTS).

The Dragon Mobile SDK is available through the Nuance Mobile Developer Program for Apple iOS 4.0 and Android 2.1 and higher. The SDK supports English, European French, European Spanish, German, Italian and Japanese for search and dictation, and more than 35 languages for TTS.

Nuance’s Mobile Developer Program provides developers with direct access to wrappers and widgets for integration of voice recognition into their own applications. Software developers can also benefit from the on-line support forum, code samples and documentation.

“The mobile application explosion is in flight with Apple nearing 10 billion downloads and Android apps expanding rapidly,” said Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile. “We’ve created an amazingly simple way for developers to innovate privately and securely on the two fastest growing platforms in the world.”
