ABBYY Announces a New Strategic Relationship with The Douglas Stewart Company

ABBYY, the leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies, has entered into a new distribution agreement with The Douglas Stewart Company, increasing the company’s reach into the educational market.

Under the agreement, The Douglas Stewart Company will be distributing ABBYY products and within the United States and Canada. This agreement builds on ABBYY’s strategy to increasingly bring efficient and accurate document processing, automation, capture and linguistic products directly to the users.


The Douglas Stewart Company is a distributor computer products, consumer electronics and school supplies with more than 10,000 products and a network of 4,500 resellers. “We have always been committed to providing high quality educational products to our resellers, who serve faculty, staff, and students across North America,” said Chuck Hulan, Chief Operating Officer, The Douglas Stewart Company. “With ABBYY’s solutions now part of our lineup, we are able to add unique value to our network of academic resellers by allowing them to bring industry-leading linguistic, capture, recognition and conversion technologies to their higher education and K-12 customers.”


Included in the distribution agreement are the following ABBYY products:
•    FineReader – ABBYY’s optical character recognition software application which enables users to create editable and searchable digital files from scanned paper documents, PDF documents and digital photographs.
•    Lingvo –Electronic dictionaries providing reliable content and word look-up.
•    Recognition Server – The company’s server-based solution for mid- to high-volume document processing.
•    PDF Transformer – A multilingual solution for converting PDF into editable formats.
