ABBYY UK Ltd., part of the ABBYY Group, and Assistive Solutions, a provider of specialist assistive technology, have entered an agreement to offer the solutions FineReader and WordQ SpeakQ as a combined bundle.
David Baxter-Williams, Assistive Solutions Managing Director said “We are delighted to be working with ABBYY and to be able to match ABBYY FineReader’s impressive OCR tools with WordQ SpeakQ. The two pieces of software complement each other to provide individuals with powerful literacy support. The synergy allows printed text to be read back from a variety of sources: from books, from PDFs and from photographs of text.”

WordQ is a solution which works alongside other writing software. It provides users with spoken feedback and also suggests spelling corrections. People with problems with reading and writing can benefit from using WordQ. SpeakQ plugs into WordQ for speech recognition. SpeakQ enables people with disabilities to write text through dictation.

ABBYY FineReader Professional Edition offers text recognition as well as PDF conversion and turns documents, PDF files, scanned and digital camera images into searchable and editable digital files.

“ABBYY has a long tradition and track record in the Education sector and we are very pleased to be working with Assistive Solutions,” said Fiona McCormick, Channel Sales Manager, UK and Ireland. “We believe we can add considerable value with these two best of breed products.”
